Samburu and Maasai Mara Game Reserves - Kenya
Pricing not available yet

About the trip:

All inclusive from designated departure city in the U.S. You will be visiting two of the most spectacular reserves on the whole continent of Africa. The Maasai Mara Reserve hosts all the most sought after species of animals that the traveler could wish to see including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, rhino, giraffe, hippo, cape buffalo, zebra and all the antelope found in this part of East Africa. It's not that they are found there and maybe you'll see them after hours and hours of looking, but rather you WILL see them in huge numbers practically every minute of the trip!!! The wildebeest migration returning to the Serengeti will be in full swing and you may actually see them crossing the river in numbers totaling in the thousands!

Samburu is in the Northern part of Kenya. It has totally different habitat
from the Mara, and has a lot of unusual animal species that are only found in this area of Africa including Grevy's zebra, Gerenuk antelope, Reticulated
Giraffe, Kirk's Dik Dik and many other fascinating wildlife.

Jan has been traveling to Africa for over 10 years. You will be getting hands on, personal guidance from Jan both before the trip and during the experience.

Includes:

  • Maximum of 6 people per vehicle. Everyone is guaranteed window and roof hatch access for ease of viewing and photography. Many economy trips pile large groups into minivans and there is no guarantee of window or edge of hatch access. Maximum number taken on the trip will be 15 which includes James and Jan.
  • 4 x 4 custom made extended Land Rovers. These vehicles are allowed off road in some areas and are dependable in getting through the toughest situations. Minivans are limited to the areas that they can safely travel in.
  • Superbly trained, certified and personable safari guide/naturalists. These wonderful guys are the bedrock of our trips. They are unbelievably knowledgeable about the flora/fauna and cultures of the areas we visit. They work very hard to insure each game drive is full of wonderful sightings and interesting behaviors.
  • Bush planes to transfer us between Reserves. Most economy trips drive. The roads are not in good condition and you waste valuable time (almost all day in some cases) instead of getting right to the reserves to get out into the bush and view the wildlife.
  • Two Reserves. Instead of trying to pack a lot of reserves into a short period of time, we carefully and fully explore the two most incredible parks in Kenya - Samburu and the Maasai Mara. No time used up packing and unpacking and traveling between destinations!
  • Average 8-10 hours a day in the bush. We go on long morning game drives, having breakfast in the field, go back to camp to have lunch and rest, then back out in the afternoon. Most economy trips average only 5-6.
  • Original Painting by Jan as an exquisite unique souvenir Each couple receives an 8x10" (value $1500), each single receives a 6x8" (value $800). Subject to be mutually agreed upon.
  • Photos of You. Most people never get photos of themselves while traveling. Jan and James will take photos of you throughout the trip and provide you with CD and/or prints.
  • Personal Help in Preparing for your Trip. Jan has traveled for over 10 years to Africa. She will give you a notebook full of information to help you prepare for your trip and be available to answer your questions via email or phone. You will feel like you are traveling with close friends!
  • All Meals. All meals are covered in the package The meals are geared to the American and European palette and are delicious and plentiful.
  • All Accommodations All Accommodations are included including the historic and famous Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi and the finest lodges and luxury tented camps. All taxes and surcharges are covered.

Quotes from 2007 trip:

"Every single aspect of the trip completely exceeded our wildest expectations."
Senator John and Mary Ford

"Visiting the nature preserves in Kenya was like stepping back in time to the 1800s in East Africa. Words cannot adequately describe the wonder and beauty of the birds and animals, not to mention the endless variations of terrain we experienced firsthand. We will definitely do this trip with Jan and James again and we won’t wait long to revisit this magical part of the African continent."
Steve & Yvonne Miller

"What a wonderful trip! Every animal you would want to see, thanks to our great guides. The places we stayed were most comfortable and every time I turned around it was time to eat again! We enjoyed meeting and making fast friends with our fellow travelers. Flying in and out to our destinations felt very safe, and the camps made me feel like we were in our on little Africa. Listening to the sounds at night will be something I will never forget. Thanks for sharing your knowledge about the country and animals (also your art & photography lessons)."
Gina & Elias Tupper

"The trip was flawless and was extremely well organized. We saw and photographed almost anything you would want to see. The biggest worry of the trip was the angle at which I wanted to shoot the next picture! I can't begin to express how grateful I am for this life-changing opportunity!"
Jennifer McEntee
