JAN CHAIRS
FUND RAISER FOR
STUDENT
FROM KENYA

Jan and James are very active with their local Rotary Club, particularly in their
International Committee. As a function of this committee, Jan proposed and then
ran a fund raiser which is called the International Education Fund. This fund will
raise money to be used for scholarships, school maintenance, school supplies etc.
around the world.

The first recipient is a girl from Kenya by the name of Emma Mutinda. She is the daughter of Jan's driver/guide when she goes on her research trips to Kenya. Emma got a sponsor to bring her to the United States a couple of years ago but then lost the sponsor. Jan has been working to help keep her in school through both the Daybreak Rotary Club and the Noon Rotary club by doing large fund raising events including an evening with food, entertainment and a unique silent auction that includes many items from Africa. Last year they raised about $30,000. The event this year is called KENYA DIG IT and it is November 2nd, 2007. Call Fox Hollow Studio for more information at 918 336-9021.

We've DONE IT! The final fundraiser was a success and we have raised the money to pay for Emma's last semester at Rogers STate University. She will graduate this spring with a degree in Business Administration. She will be writing business plans for her father's nature center back in Kenya, while pursuing an internship here in the states, preferably with a conservation or zoo based entity to learn more about the hands on running of a business. CONGRATULATIONS EMMA - WE'RE SO PROUD OF YOU!!!
